A wall-hung vanity with drawers, a mirrored cabinet above it and a recessed niche in the shower take clutter off every bench. Leaving the floor clear under the vanity also makes the bathroom look bigger and easier to clean.

Merging a separate toilet into the bathroom adds framing, lining and drainage work, so that job usually lands in the middle or upper band. Keeping both rooms as they are and renovating them together is often the lower-cost choice.

Four Wet Rooms Renovated in Ponsonby
Ponsonby is a short drive from Point Chevalier, and our job there took in a bathroom, two toilets and a laundry in one house. Every room shares the same white tile and black band, so the house reads as one renovation.
Small rooms were the main limit, as they are in many Point Chevalier houses. Compact vanities, back-to-wall pans and a custom tiled shower with frameless glass kept each room usable. The Ponsonby bathroom, toilets and laundry project has the photos and a walk-through video.

Damp is uneven across the suburb. Point Chevalier East reported about one and a half times the damp rate of the North and West areas. A weak fan, or a fan that vents into the ceiling, keeps steam in the house, so every bathroom we renovate gets a new fan ducted to the outside.
Since 2 November 2024, hot water delivered to a new bath, basin or shower must not exceed 50°C. In an older house that can mean adding a tempering valve, and Nick includes it on the quote when it is needed.
The Alchemy process
How We Run a Point Chevalier Bathroom Job
Before work starts. Nick visits, measures the bathroom and the toilet room, and talks through whether to keep them separate. You get one written quote and a start date.
During the build. The bathroom is stripped to the framing. Plumbers, electricians and tilers come in the order Nick books them, so each trade arrives when the room is ready for it.
At handover. Nick checks the falls in the shower, runs every tap and the fan, and walks you through the bathroom before he leaves.
